I grew up in the hobby - dad started flying RC in 1974, about a year before I was born. I started flying at 7 years old and built my second trainer a year later. I began flying pattern at age 12, and that was my focus until the early ‘90’s when IMAC started take off.
By the mid 1990’s I stopped competing to go to Penn State University. For about 10 years I was heavily involved with drag racing and restoring/modifying small block V8 Muscle cars, racing mountain bikes, and flying full scale planes.
Most of my RC flying has revolved around precision aerobatics (IMAC & Pattern) I’ve had the great opportunity to learn building and set up techniques from some of the best in the hobby. I have designed, built and flown about 10 of my own design planes, one of which was used successfully in Pattern.
By 2006 I was back to competing in IMAC going to 10-17 events a year winning dozens of regional events including regional championships. I also competed in the US Nationals 5 years, finishing in the finals in every class and finishing 2nd twice in Advanced. 2014 was the first IMAC Worlds which I competed in the Advance class and finished 4th. I continued into Unlimited winning regional contests until 2017 I decided to focus on jets.
Currently, I am consumed with turbine jets; starting the first F3S contests here in the US and competed in the first Red Flag Jet Invitational finishing 5th in the sport jet class 2016. I am involved with scale jets and airplanes; competed in two Top Guns with my CARF - Models F-100, finishing 5th and 3rd in Pro Jet. I started with CARF- Models as a team pilot back in 2019 and moved into a US Rep role in 2023.
I truly enjoy helping others learn about the hobby and see them succeed. I also love inspiring people to do things that they didn’t know they were capable of. My primary focus was precision aerobatics, but over the years I have enjoyed all aspects of the RC hobby, including, RC cars, boats, helicopters, and many airplanes from micro to 50%, (gas, glow, electric) and quads. I attend many events from the local club, to the large national, and world level events.
I love building, flying, and doing them both at a high level with the great people in the hobby - there’s always room for improvement!
