The SparkSwitch RS is a compact and high-performance ignition switch that incorporates RPM (rotational speed) monitoring and, optionally, an integrated voltage regulator for 6V ignition systems. It allows the ignition to be switched on and off directly from the transmitter, while the current status can be monitored at any time via an external LED or through telemetry feedback. These capabilities improve overall operational safety and make handling petrol engines significantly easier. In critical situations—such as a throttle servo failure—the SparkSwitch RS provides a fast and reliable way to shut down the engine.
A key feature of the system is the galvanic isolation between the receiver system and the ignition system. Both the switching function and RPM signal transmission are optically isolated, ensuring that any issues within the ignition system—such as poor shielding or component failure—cannot interfere with the sensitive receiver electronics.
For RPM monitoring, the input can be connected directly to the ignition unit’s Tacho output, if available. If the ignition system does not offer a Tacho connection, an optional RPM-Probe sensor can be used, which connects in parallel with the Hall sensor. The collected RPM data is compatible with all current telemetry systems, and the SparkSwitch RS automatically detects the telemetry protocol in use, removing the need for manual configuration via USB.
The SparkSwitch RS is available in two versions: one with integrated voltage regulation and one without. The regulated version reduces the input voltage (up to 9.0V) to a stable 6.0V output, while the non-regulated version allows the full input voltage (up to 13.0V) to pass through unchanged.
