General Information

One of the most successful Sport Jets ever got a makeover. CARF-Models is bringing this great flying plane back, made in brand-new molds. We incorporated many design improvements, including a new, more efficient, easier-to-install turbine, a new, beautiful, shiny Kevlar fuel tank, and gear mounts in the wing and fuselage that are finally perfectly adjusted to the Electron ER40 gear we supply as an accessory. Of course, just as always, ARF and painted in the molds.

ARF KIT

The hardware included in the kit meets the highest quality standards and is made in Germany by reputable manufacturers. It includes high-quality ball links and clevises, zinc-plated all-thread pushrods, and 8.8- or better strength-rated, blackened Allen bolts and nickel-plated self-tapping screws. More hardware is not needed in the otherwise highly prefabricated airplane.

KIT Details

The ViperJet MKII is a highly prefabricated kit, truly ARF and well-engineered. It has proven for many years to be a robust jet, competing at the highest level in aerobatic contests around the world. Besides the new features, it still incorporates the following:

  • 2-part fuselage, which can be permanently glued or removably bolted together.
  • Removable fin with the rudder being attached with a steel hinge pin
  • Composite wing with straight wing tips, ailerons, and huge flaps on elastic hinges
  • Large stab with readily installed and aligned stab tube, elevator elastic flap
  • Huge canopy with components for a vacuum-formed cockpit included, providing the option to make a very detailed scale cockpit with aftermarket parts
  • Landing gear mounts adjusted for the commonly used Electron ER-40 gear
  • Painted in the mold in standard schemes, color swaps, or fully customized

Structural Components

  • The fuselage is separated right where the inlets hide the joint. You can permanently glue it or join it with 4 bolts. All structural components, including the stab and fin joiner sleeves, are glued in the mold to ensure perfect alignment and structural integrity.
  • The wings have a well-thought-out spar-and-rib inlay. The gear mount, now perfectly adjusted for Electron ER-40 retract units, integrates well into this structure. Elastic flap hinges are built into the flaps and ailerons.
  • The horizontal stab is very large, so this component also needs considerable internal reinforcement. The removable fin features a hidden linkage and control horn.

Landing Gear

From now on, we only provide the Electron ER-40 retract set for our Viperjet. It is perfectly suited to the plane's weight. After you adjust the mounting hardware in the plane for the Electron ER-40 gear units, installation is as easy as you could imagine. Nosewheel steering is now done with a servo mounted to the strut, eliminating all external linkages. For the main struts and wheels, the cutouts are already pre-made in the wings. Bolting the new Electron gear into the new kit takes minutes...

We strongly recommend this landing gear, as it is designed for this purpose and provides hassle-free installation and operation.

Engine Choice & Thrust Tube

The new thrust tube and engine mount design allows easy engine installation without drilling holes in the wooden mounting rails. T-nuts are already installed, and the engine bolts to the carbon tabs from the outside of the model. It includes a wooden jig to drill the engine mount holes, ensuring perfect alignment. The most efficient intake lip design replaces the bell mouth.

Fuel Tank

A new 4-liter fuel tank is optionally available as an accessory. It's made in new molds, shiny on the outside, featuring our new tank fittings for the clunk and vent lines. It no longer includes a UAT (hopper tank) because too many different systems are available and preferred by our customers. The tank set includes new mounts featuring a milled-wood foam structure and carbon tubes.

Accessories

For our ViperJet MKII, we offer a wide range of accessories. These include electric retractable landing gear, a fuel tank, a thrust tube, and an optional UAT. In addition, we offer high-quality MacGregor servos in combination with our very own CARF-Models servo arms – perfectly matched to the model and the demands of a high-performance sport jet.

Various Color Schemes

Available as usual, in various stock color schemes, with individual color swaps, or even in a completely custom scheme. In the following pics, you can see a few attractive schemes that could be done:

Flying Characteristics

Flying the ViperJet MKII is a great experience. Here, nothing has changed from the old kit to the new. It has great slow-flight characteristics, and the plane is still capable of fast fly-bys straight like an arrow. Neutral roll performance and is strong enough to survive snap rolls, too. The ground handling is great thanks to the wide trailing-link gear, and the wheels are large enough to perform well on grass runways. Yes, there are quite a few Vipers out there. But this new CARF ViperJet MKII is the highest-quality kit, backed by CARF's spare parts policy and after-sales service.

So, if you are shopping for a Viper in the 160-180 N engine class, consider the all-new CARF ViperJet MKII as your best choice.

This plane is just fun all around. It's precise with light wing loading. But most of all - it's such a good looking plane! I removed a lot of nose weight until I reached the desired CG and also removed any kind of expo from the rudder to give it more authority. Other than that, it was dialed in with all regular stock settings. This one is definitely going to be my weekend plane for the season!

The CARF Models Viper Jet MKII is a true beginner RC Turbine airplane. It is super easy to handle, capable of all jet aerobatic maneuvers, and perfect for learning the throttle management for turbine planes. It's a super easy setup with simple installation of the rc equippment and turbine system. Precise flying, even in slow maneuvers is what I really like about the Viper.
