General Information

The F-100 from CARF-Models is an impressive example of what is possible today in composites... the impressively low airframe weight at its size, the simplified flight mechanics, the incredible surface detail and true outline made it in a short time the go-to scale jet for everyone who desires the combination of ultimate aerobatics performance and classic scale jet appearance...

Go big! Go bold! Jump the gun and choose our “Hun”

Often referred to as the Hun, a shortened version of “one hundred”, the F-100 Super Sabre served with the United States Air Force (USAF) from 1954 to 1971 and with the Air National Guard (ANG) until 1979. It was the first USAF fighter capable of supersonic speed in level flight.

The CARF-Models F-100 SuperSabre scale jet has a long history and an interesting story to tell, but ultimately the cooperation during a gone-by era between CARF and Elite Aerosports signs responsible for its absolutely outstanding scale fidelity and performance. It had been an “industry first” in many ways, but because we had taken the decision to offer this aircraft as a model over 25 kg, its initial success was limited. So we made the effort to re-design the kit and lighten it drastically, resulting in even better flying characteristics.!

ARF KIT

And the prefabrication of his kit has been taken to the ultimate level. Only servo, gear and engine installation are required to complete this airplane. Gear doors are hinged, all control surfaces are readily installed, control horns glued in... And then, there are some external scale items, of course included in the kit, which need to be installed, such as the long characteristic pitot tube and the refueling probe...

Optionally available is a lighting set and the set of drop tanks with Pylons. But these might take the plane slightly over 25 kg.

Surface Design

Some of the restored fantastic examples of this historic airplane are nicely puttied and painted, shiny and spotless. Our approach, however, has been to recreate the true aluminum surface as natural as it gets. Not quite as 'rough' as the original as you might call it 'imperfect', we think that the level of scale fidelity is the best compromise between spotless and scale. All rivets, fasteners, hatches are recreated in a perfect scale fashion.

Fuselage

The two-part fuselage of the F-100 gives plenty of room for all the equipment, including the fuel tank turbine, nose gear, all the wiring, the batteries and all Rc Components. While the thrust tube, the stab and rudder servos are installed in the rear fuselage which is seperated behind the wing, all the other components are placed in the main fuelage.

Retractable Landing Gear

A new ELECTRIC scale landing gear is available for this plane and all gear doors are designed for servo operation. That is as simple as it gets. The last upgrade, in early 2024, was the move to original Electron ER50 NG components, combining those with the scale struts in reliable use for so long. These struts were simplified a little from the first version, so the the F-100 gear develops the reailibility of a simple sport jet setup. And that's priceless for a valuable airplane like the CARF-Models F-100...

Engine Choices

Even with drop tanks installed, many customer have proven that a 210-220N engine is fully sufficient for power. A little more will give you some more static thrust for dynamic climbs like large cuban eights or loops, and only there a brief period of full throttle is needed. We recommend the upper limit to be 230-240N.

Weathering and Hot Section

The weathering and hot section of the F-100 D Super Sabre are key areas where scale realism truly shines beyond its standards. The use of advanced painting techniques, airbrushing, and work of very skilled people replicates the effects of heat, grime, and operational wear seen on the full-scale F-100 D Super Sabre. These details not only enhance the model's visual appeal but also make it look like a true veteran of the skies.

Scale Details

Nothing stops RC enthusiasts from playing with their planes' small but impressive features. For example, a moving canopy, an outstanding light system made by UniLight, afterburner rings, scale speedbrakes in the rear fuselage. Not to be left out a higly detailed scale cockpit and the scale pilot figure.

ARF+ or PNP - Service

We offer an extremely high-quality assembly service, delivering a ARF+ or ready-to-fly PNP model – including complete servo and wiring installation, electric retractable landing gear, and pre-installed fuel tank. The cockpit, light system, thrust tube and afterburner system can be installed as well. When you receive this model in the PNP version, final assembly takes just a few hours… A scale jet like our F-100 D Super Sabre has never been easier to get airborne! At the same time, the pictures show what your model can look like once you’ve completed the build – a true masterpiece in both looks and engineering.

Accessories

We offer a well selected and trusted range of accessories for our F-100 D Super Sabre. But first and foremost we manufacture lots of accessories for this scale marvel ourselves. This starts from a well designed thrust tube, which needs to be spiral reinforced, a form fitting kevlar fuel tank, a wonderful scale cockpit with sliding canopy mechanism and a pair of drop tanks, readily installed to the wing. Not to speak of the scale retracts, which base on Electron NG units but struts and wheels are manufactured painstakingly accurate by ourselves and our partners. We also offer renowned brands of engines, servos and other RC items. For a comprehensive list of these offerings, please explore our "Shop Area" or take advantage of our "Build my Plane" feature, which also explains the ARF-Plus and PNP options.

Flying Performance

The flying characteristics represent what everybody expects from a Super Sabre. And some. No scale jet could be slicker, faster, still more docile and neutral than an F-100. The CARF-Models F-100 does everything even much better, slicker, faster and more docile and neutral than any other F-100 on the market. Simply due to its massive size, strength and stiffness. The approach of no compromise, whatsoever, results in the Best money can buy. Enjoy fast rocket-like flybys as well as slow circles and eights in front of you, at full flaps and crawling speeds. Experience a scale jet doing 4-point rolls without needing any correction, just roll slow and pause 4 times in a row. the wide gear track and large wheels make it such a sweet ground handler, too, be it on grass or asphalt. Just awesome!
