That means a totally new scale surface with many new details. In this latest version, this aircraft has many more paint schemes. We also upgraded the old pneumatic landing gear to new electric landing gear, including the tail gear. The folding wing mechanism can't be changed, so it must still be hydraulic.
The Corsair has been one of the most breathtaking Warbirds ever built. However, the typical gull wing was a nightmare for modelers to build, so before the composite age, not many Corsairs were made. What a shame...

Our 1:4.5 Scale F4U-1D Corsair features all our latest molding and manufacturing technologies, which have elevated our ARF Aerobatic Planes and Sport Jets above all competition. The CARF Models Corsair is a true marvel. Scaled perfectly in outline and panel lines, it even features scale fabric surfaces on the outer wings, elevator, and rudder right out of the molds. This scale is light enough for safe flight, staying below the 25 kg (55 lb) limit in many countries.

Only an electric system can provide ideal, constant speed throughout the folding cycle. While pneumatics would still have enough power to fold the wings, the motion would be uneven and look quite comical. The new electric wing-folding system in the Corsair ensures smooth, reliable, and consistent operation.
The linear servo is powered by an electronic controller that precisely regulates speed, maintaining perfect synchronization between both wings. The lock system to ensure that the wings stay down the whole flight is basically untouched and works exactly the same way as with the hydraulic system before.

The retracts for our Corsair are made by the renowned scale-retract manufacturer, Sierra Giant Scale. They are designed exclusively to fit our Corsair. We strongly recommend using this gear with your CARF Corsair, as both the kit and retracts are a perfect match and designed for each other. CNC-machined from aircraft-grade aluminum and stainless steel, the gear features a precise, strong 90-degree rotating mechanism, ready for scale-sized wheels. Painstaking design work and precision machining make the main and tail gear a true engineering masterpiece. It also features a pair of scale main wheels with aluminum hubs. The struts lock down with the same mechanism as the full-scale. The whole gear is operated electrically, even the scale tail gear.

We offer a variety of accessories for our F4U Corsair. The electric landing gear, tail gear & scale wheels, the Scale propeller, and the Moki radial engine. Additionally, we offer the Unilight Lighting Set, the scale cockpit, a sliding canopy set, and Mac Gregor Servos in combination with our very own CARF-Models servo arms.

We offer an extremely high-end assembly service that includes a PNP model with the engine, full servo, and wire installation, electric landing gear, and fuel tank installation. We also do all lighting, weathering, and nomenclature. If you're receiving this model in the PNP Version, it only takes a couple of hours to complete the build process... Flying a scale warbird like our F4U-4 or F4U-1D Corsair can't get much easier! At the same time, those pictures show what your plane can look like after you finish the build process.

A Corsair is a well-flying airplane in principle. Most importantly, the airfoils and incidence angles match the original angles of attack and speeds in flight. After flying the plane at TopGun ’08, we have proof that this one was done right! Even in windy conditions, the CARF Corsair tracks like it's on rails, and the control surfaces are perfectly smooth. Stall characteristics are uneventful, and the huge flaps keep landing speed very low. In the air, though, with the throttle fully open, the beast comes alive and shows what she was designed for. At Top Gun 2009, 2 more CARF Corsairs were already flying. Jason Shulman and Marco Benincasa. Beautiful birds, and the pilots had only great things to say about their flying characteristics. The CARF Corsair is a dream plane to fly. Smooth and agile, fast and slow, it performs scale aerobatic maneuvers with authority.

Since the F4U-4 Corsair with the highly detailed surface is out I was able to fly the very first demo plane. I have flwon a few warbirds before but no corsair, so it was my first experience with the flying characteristics of this warbird. Basically, it's a dream to fly and a very stunning looking airplane in the sky. Taking off, flying and the landing is so easy. Especiallly on gras fields. Slow something with which I could impress other pilots the most. Extremly slow fly bys with open canopy is the show stopper, even if there are other warbirds at the flying field. The only tricky part is the landing on an asphalt runway, but... if you think about how the original aircraft lands on asphalt, they keep the tail up as long as possible. Landing the rc corair on aspahlt with the same style, if will get not very difficult to bring it down without any wing scratches.
