The SU-27 is one of the most impressive fighter jet aircraft ever built. CARF-Models have agreed with a widely popular customer opinion that the 2-seater version is even more impressive, both in terms of beauty and flight performance. So CARF-Models opted for the SU-27 UB. Even better than that, with only slight modifications you can create a SU-30 for more variations in color schemes. We can provide the parts for both types, we have molds for different fins and other distinctive components and can provide the single or twin wheel nose gear.
The impressive size of 2.2 m wingspan and 3.2 m length will result in an aircraft just below the 25 kg limit, powered by 2 100 - 140 N engines. The weight conscious builder will always opt for the 100N engines, which are totally sufficient for impressive aerobatic performance at great fuel economy. Of course the aircraft is fully detailed with rivets, hatches, panel lines, screw heads and more. All parts are composite, painted in the molds and fully functional in all scale aspects. Leading edge slats, flaps and speed brake door are readily hinged. The canopy frame is installed and movable. All control surfaces are attached, control horns are installed, linkages and servo mounts are prepared, gear mounts are ready for the CNC milled landing gear to drop in. The internal structure of the fuselage is quite complex and therefore must be engineered very well. There are quite a few highlights such as the taileron mechanics and linkages, the engine and duct mounting, the rotating main gear installation, the complex gear door functionality, to name a few. It has also been a challenge to get enough longitudinal strength into that long, thin fuselage at minimal weight penalty.
Accessories are available such as a pair of Kevlar fuel cells, a scale landing gear with wheels/brakes, a complete pneumatic pack and an impressive scale cockpit.
The CARF-Models SU-27 / SU-30 will be a new, breathtaking sensation on the world’s model airfields. It is highly prefabricated, so not only the experienced builder and pilot will be able to enjoy this marvel. All the critical details are pre-built, painted versions are available and the landing gear is a proven, rugged design. Due to the heavily increased reliability of today’s model jet turbines the twin engine configuration is no challenge to anymore to even a less exerienced pilot. That being said, the SU-27, if built scale, cannot be equipped with one single engine, as there is no room in the fuselage between the actual engine nacelles for a central engine and bifurcated pipe.
The two schemes we will put on our two prototypes are pictured on this page. The grey SU-30 will be painted on a silver base model, whereas the white/red/blue aircraft has been painted in the molds.
